Job title ASM Small Works Engineer Apprentice
Reports to ASM Field Line Manager & UK Service Manager

Job purpose

To install and commission as necessary, all fire, life safety and electronic security systems under contract with the company.

Duties and responsibilities

To provide a supporting role to the service and small works engineers in the coordination and installation of small works and aftersales works from first fix on site through to successful commissioning and handover, including client training. To achieve all client expectations and to adhere to statutory regulations at all times.
To provide assistance to the service team as and when necessary.
To co-ordinate installation activities to ensure that they are carried out in a controlled manner and in accordance with the Company’s documented procedures and processes plus any statutory and regulatory requirements that may apply as directed by the lead engineer
To assist with commissioning and handover of projects to the client.
To ensure adherence to all Company policies – including those for quality, health & safety and the management of false alarms.
To assist in the production of O&M documentation and suitable amended as-fitted drawings to allow the Small Works project manager to handover the required documentation to the client within agreed time scales at the completion of each project.
To carry out any other job specific duties as deemed appropriate by the Small Works manager
To take an active role within the continuous improvement of Company systems.
Continual assessment of one’s system knowledge base to identify improvements required, either by in-house or external training.
Continually assess one’s effectiveness within the role and discuss any enhancements to the role that would make your contribution more effective.
Managing own day to day diary to use time effectively as directed by the lead engineer
Verifying that installed systems meet the requirements of the relevant standards.
Collating and recording all system information for inclusion is O&M submission such as loop loadings, as-wiring information, battery calcs, system schedules, dB levels, device ID’s etc.
Managing sub-contractor labour at site level to ensure installations are completed to the agreed programme of works.
To liaise with other site trades in order to push the project forward.

• To have good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and complete service call-out documentation.

• To have good organisational and time management skills.

• Management of vehicle & stock

Working conditions

Working in GBE Converge office locations as well as client and construction sites around the UK. Work can be in and outside locations.
