Reports to Project Managers

Job purpose

To supervise and commission projects from invitation to tender through to handover; ensuring smooth on schedule running including the achievement of all customer expectations and adherence to statutory regulations.
To provide a supporting role for the Company’s Project Managers in the control and management of UK and European projects.

Duties and responsibilities

• Take ownership of projects allocated to you to supervise & commission.
• Ensure the correct paperwork/certification is completed for each project
• Carry out quality audits for projects you are supervising
• Ensure installations are carried out to the company’s requirements and to the relevant standard
• Produce project status reports for the Projects Manager
• Monitor labour requirements for projects which you are supervising and inform the PM what is required.
• Monitor engineers/sub-contractors appearance and quality of paperwork
• Provide technical assistance, support, guidance to engineers and sub contractors
• Customer liaison
• Drive engineers punctuality and productivity
• Ensure all information from the installations and commissioning’s for operation and maintenance manuals are supplied for each project.
• Monitor plant requirements for each project
• Attend site meetings when required
• Monitor and upkeep health and safety requirements for each project
• Monitor quality and quantity of equipment used for each site
• Order 1st/2nd fix equipment for each project via the PM
• Ensure equipment arrives on site on time
• Monitor programme of works making sure that we meet deadlines
• Install fire and security systems when required
• Commission fire and security systems
• Monitor and control the other commissioning engineers allocated to your project.
• To carry out any other job specific duties as deemed appropriate by the directors of the Company.
• To commission any number of fire alarm, ASD, Voice Alarm and disabled refuge/disabled alarm systems including:
• To commission any number of cctv, access and security systems
• Confirming and verifying the systems meet the requirements of BS5839:2017 Part 1 (fire alarm), BS5588 & BS 5839 Part 9 (disabled refuge) and BS8300:2009 (disabled toilet alarms)
• Calculating loop loadings and loop designs
• Producing interface schedules
• Producing mains supply requirement schedule
• Producing Cause & Effect schedules
• Developing system schematics for fire alarm and disabled refuge/disabled alarms systems

KPI’s & Measures

• Achievement of all client SLA’s and KPIs
• Engineering productivity and performance is in line with budget
• Number of complaints and escalations
• Client feedback
• Number of repeat calls
• P&L targets achieved

Experience and Skills

• To have experience in working on and commissioning Fire Detection, Voice Alarm, Disabled Refuge and Disabled Toilet systems to the applicable British and European Standards and knowledge also of all relevant BAFE/BRE codes of practice.
• To be conversant with the products and systems specified and with any significant limitations inherent in such products and systems.
• To be conversant with and up to date in respect of new technologies and regulatory standards that are relevant to the design process.
• To have the ability to plan and monitor work to tight time scales and deadlines.
• To have good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and submission items for tender/contract.
• To have the ability to work creatively and innovatively dealing with core issues with customers.
• To have the ability to form good working relationships with colleagues, customers and outside bodies.
• To be able to influence, persuade and negotiate effectively with all levels of person.
• To have the ability to understand and disseminate specifications and technical drawings.
• To be able to display initiative and to have strong attention to detail.
• To be highly result orientated with a strong drive to deliver/succeed.

Working conditions

Working in GBE Converge office locations as well as client and construction sites around UK and Europe. Work can be in and outside locations.
